US states generally follow a combination of NFPA standards and OSHA regulations for portable fire extinguishers. The foundational code for selection, installation, and maintenance is NFPA 10, while where and when they are required is dictated by the NFPA Life Safety Code and local fire codes. There are also codes for different aspects of fire protection.
The Nevada Fire Protection (C-41)License examination covers Fire Sprinklers (C-41a), Fire Extinguishing Systems (C41b) and Fire Alarms (C-41c). PSI administers the exam, and a score of at least 70% is required to pass the exam.
This book provides practice questions with explanations on these codes, standards, rules and guidelines.
