The Ohio Type I (Fireworks & Pyrotechnics) Exhibitor exam is officially identified by the state as test code Type I Exhibitor – Fireworks & Pyrotechnics. The exam evaluates your knowledge of Ohio fire codes and safety protocols for conducting both outdoor and indoor fireworks displays. The test is based primarily on the following codes and regulations:
Ohio Revised Code (ORC): Chapter 3743 (Fireworks)
Ohio Administrative Code (OAC): Chapter 1301:7-7-56 (Explosives and Fireworks)
National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standards: NFPA 1123 Standard for Fireworks Display and NFPA 1126 Standard for the Use of Pyrotechnics Before a Proximate Audience
A license authorizes setting up and discharging 1.3G and qualifying 1.4G special fireworks at public displays for which a display permit has been issued. Exam is required to earn such license.
