The Certified Healthcare CPD Professional (CHCP) credential provides an educational self-assessment experience to those within the healthcare continuing professional development community and defines a standard of minimal competence for the healthcare education profession. The exam focuses on adult and interprofessional learning principles; educational activity planning, development, implementation, and evaluation; program leadership administration, and management; and knowledge of the CPD/CME/CE environment.
Two knowledge domains, in particular, represent the most current and novel content areas for the exam, starting with emerging and evolving trends, which explicitly tests knowledge of contemporary issues reshaping the field and includes key new topics such as diversity, equity, and inclusion and understanding the role and value of DEI in CPD, as well as generative artificial intelligence and identifying both the opportunities and pitfalls of incorporating generative AI modalities into CPD. This domain also covers global CPD and discussing trends in global CPD to identify commonalities and differences between national and international landscapes, maintenance of certification and understanding how CPD relates to maintenance of certification programs, personalized learning and incorporating concepts of personalized learning within a CPD program, and social media and discussing the various functions of social media platforms in CPD. The second of these significant new content areas is technology, which focuses on the practical application of technology in CPD and covers technology platforms and utilizing platforms and social media tools to promote learner interaction and gather user data, analytics and describing the analytic tools necessary to draw accurate inferences from data sources, and business tools and identifying technology tools for managing business processes like event management and credit tracking.
