Electrician apprentices and helpers do not need a license to start working, but may need to pass an aptitude test. Persons applying for statewide Journeyman examination must demonstrate a minimum of 8,000 hours of experience that shows you have the necessary qualifications, training and technical knowledge to install electrical wiring, apparatus or equipment, light, heat or power.
